Kids First Day
Our 2nd year participating in KIDS FIRST DAY in London was a huge success! On Friday, April 17th we had 15 pre-teens ages 9-12 from throughout our community take a Hip Hop class with Luis Espinoza, and 7 children ages 2-3 participate in a Toddler Time class with Tracy Mitchell. KIDS FIRST DAY is a citywide event where children can enjoy free or low-cost activities at more than 50 locations throughout London.

Modern Dance Workshops
On SUNDAY, MAY 17 & 24TH we have TWO Canadian, modern dance icons coming to North London Dance Centre & running technique classes for our Grade 3-8 level dance students. Louis Laberge-Cote will be here on May 17th and Robert Desrosiers will be here May 24th. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to dance with these brilliant dancers, choreographers & directors. REGISTER TODAY – Forms are available in the lobby.
Recital Costume Photos
All classes will be photographed in recital costumes on Saturday May 30, Sunday May 31 & Sunday June 7. It is completely optional to purchase photos, but as a courtesy to fellow dancers, it would be appreciated if you could attend your designated time(s) in full costume so the entire class is included in the class photo. Full recital costumes are worn, with proper coloured tights and shoes, and hair in a slick bun for all female dancers. The photo schedule has been emailed to all families and is also posted in the waiting room at the studio. Blue order forms have been sent home in all classes.
June Recital – Kaleidoscope
The theme for our year’s June Recital is Kaleidoscope. The show will have lots of variety in music, colours and costumes, while showcasing our students in multiple genres of dance. About 2/3 of our costumes have already started arriving at the studio and the remainder are expected mid May. Students will try their costumes on in their classes leading up to the show and we will send them home before our photo days. Please don’t allow your dancers to wear their costumes (once we send them home) around the house for play. We want to keep them all in tip-top shape for the recital.
The recital dress rehearsal schedule will be emailed out to all dancers over the next week, along with the list of which classes are performing in which show. In the meantime, please continue to keep Friday, June 12 & Saturday, June 13 open for your dancer’s rehearsals & performance(s). Both the dress rehearsals and the recitals will once again take place at The Wolf Performance Hall at the Central Library.
Tickets will go on sale on May 13th via http://www.onstagedirect.com/NorthLondon We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance; shows have sold out in previous years.
Parent’s Waiting Room
A reminder that we only have our video feeds from the studios on during hours when there is someone working at the desk for the safety of our faculty and students. We will be turning off the videos as of Saturday, May 9th to keep the final versions of our recital dances a surprise for the show.
We will be having early registration for next season at the studio from June 15-20th. Final registration for the Fall will be held August 24-Spetember 5.

Young Company Open Rehearsal
On Sunday June 7th we will be having an Open Rehearsal at the studio from 3-5 pm where interested dancers currently in our Grade 3-8 levels are welcome to come to the studio to watch the Young Company rehearse. Members of The Young Company have had the opportunity to work with 4 professional choreographers this year, and learn pieces in a variety of contemporary styles, which will be performed at our June Recital.
Congratulations to our 24 students who took their Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations on April 12! Thank you to our amazing senior ballet faculty for preparing these candidates: Ms. Dale & Ms. Tracy.
Congratulations to one of our senior ballet students, Cait Turnbull, who has been accepted into the BFA – Dance Education program at York. Awesome job!
