School Philosophy
All students are strongly encouraged to work toward their maximum potential, while placing emphasis on a fun, enjoyable experience. Dance is a wonderful art form which enriches children with the enjoyment of movement and music in a supportive environment. Self-confidence, co-ordination, musicality, strength, flexibility, posture, poise and self-discipline are characteristics that we strive to develop over the course of training.
School Year and Fee Schedule
The school year commences September 2011 and runs until the end of May 2012. Students in the end of year performance will continue with rehearsals until the performance date. Priority mailings will be sent to all returning and summer school students. At registration, payment is either for the year in full, or by payment plan - September payment and a post dated cheque for the balance dated December 5, 2011. HST is added to tuition fees. Students will be placed on a waiting list if classes are full. Pre-registration ensures placement. Summer School classes are registered separately.
* Some dates and details may be subject to change.
Scheduled Performances
Performing is an integral part of the children’s dance education. It is the culmination of the time and effort put into one’s class work.. North London Dance Centre students are provided with as many opportunities to perform as possible. The annual informal, in-house Winter/Christmas concert is tentatively scheduled for mid-December 2011. This is the final day of regularly scheduled classes prior to the winter break. Classes recommence in January 2012. The end of year school theatre performance will be an early evening presentation preceded by a dress rehearsal. The dress rehearsals are mandatory. This is a formal presentation at a professional theatre and tickets prices cover the cost of putting on this production. Tickets are available from approximately the beginning of May usually from The Grand Theatre box office. Those wishing to attend the performance are responsible for purchasing their tickets in advance of the show. Videotaping of performances within the theatre is strictly prohibited and patrons attempting to do so will be asked to leave the theatre. Full scale recitals are held on alternate years. There will be some dress requirements for this performance which will be specified closer to the time. In recital years, costume fees are in the range of $85-100 (approx.) for each class.
Each grade and dance discipline has specified dancewear so that each class is uniform and tidy.
