FOR YOUR INFORMATION
We would encourage all of our parents and students who have social media accounts to like/follow us on our Facebook and/or Twitter accounts @NLondonDance. We use these avenues to post reminders of important upcoming dates as well as studio info. In case of any inclement weather closures, we would also post this information here first.
Parent Viewing Week #1
We invite parents to attend their dancer’s class (or classes) during the week of October 22-28. This will be the first of two opportunities this year to observe your dancer from inside the studio. Each dancer may bring two guests with them to watch their class; this is to ensure there is enough space for our guests.

Pizza & Movie Night
We are having a Pizza & Movie Night at the studio on Saturday, November 4 from 6-8 pm, as a fundraiser for the London Food Bank. We’re showing Ballerina. Movie admission including pizza will be $10. This event is for dancers ages 4 & up. Dancers who are 4 need a parent to stay with them. Sign up sheets are available at the front desk. Wear your PJs and bring a blanket!
Dancer’s Waiting Room
The room to the left when you walk into the dance school is our Dancer’s Waiting Room. We ask that any dancers who need to change clothing continue to use the washrooms for that purpose as our dancer’s room is for both our male and female students. The dancer’s waiting room is where ALL of our dancers are welcome, and should be waiting before class to stretch/prepare for class. We ask that parents wait in the parent’s lobby versus in the dancer’s waiting room, unless they are there for a parent & tot class.
Hyde Park Santa Claus Parade
On Saturday, November 25, NLDC will be participating in the Hyde Park Santa Claus Parade. The parade takes place 10-11 am & we invite all dancers in Level 1 to 9 classes who do not dance on Saturday mornings to participate. Dancers need to learn a short piece of choreography to perform on the parade route at a studio rehearsal & details on that will be sent out in a separate email. If Primary level dancers are interested, they may walk behind the older dancers in the parade & hand out candy canes. The only cost to participate is for a long-sleeved red NLDC shirt, which is $28, HST included. Keep an eye out for the sign up email with details!
Winterlude is the name of our annual December demonstration shows. This year’s Winterlude shows will be held Saturday, December 16, at the Wolf Performance Hall, 251 Dundas Street at the Central Library. Dress rehearsals will be held at the Wolf Performance Hall on both Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15. Detailed schedules will be provided to all students in late October, which will indicate each class’s rehearsal slot, as well as which show(s) they will be performing in. Show times on December 16 will be at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm & 4:30 pm. Most classes perform in only one show, however some perform in two or three. If your dancer will NOT be participating in our Winterlude show, kindly let us know by email as soon as possible.
Tickets for the show will be available via http://www.onstagedirect.com/northlondon starting November 16. There is no limit on the number of tickets purchased per family. You are welcome to invite your extended family and friends to share in your dancer’s accomplishments. We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance. Tickets have sold out in previous years. DVD order forms will be handed out in classes in November for any families interested in purchasing a professional DVD of the show.
Reminder: Buns for Ballet Class
It is a long-standing tradition to see ballerinas with their hair gathered into a secure bun, but there is more than just tradition to this elegant hairstyle. The most basic purpose of the bun is to keep hair from whipping the face. Ballet class requires that students focus on many different aspects of their developing technique, and dancers cannot be distracted by loose hair in their face. Dancers/parents are responsible for putting their hair in a proper bun prior to class. This will ensure that students can concentrate on what is most important in class – learning and developing a love for dance! Buns are mandatory for all ballet classes at our school. Ponytails may only be worn for jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre & hip hop classes.
