FOR YOUR INFORMATION
We would like to encourage all of our parents and students who have social media accounts to like us/follow us on our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ accounts! Links to all of our accounts are available in the header of our website, on the right hand side at www.northlondondancecentre.ca We use these avenues to post reminders of important upcoming dates as well as studio info. In case of any inclement weather closures, we would also post this information here first.
Buns for Ballet Class
It is a long-standing tradition to see ballerinas with their hair gathered into a secure and neat bun, but there is more than just tradition to this elegant hairstyle. The most basic purpose of the bun is to keep hair from whipping the face during turns. In addition, ballet class requires that students focus on many different aspects of their developing technique and therefore dancers cannot be distracted by loose hair falling down in their face. Dancers (or their parents for the little ones) are responsible for putting their hair in a secure bun prior to class. This will ensure that students are not wasting valuable class time fixing their hair, and they can concentrate on what is most important in class – learning and developing a love for dance! Buns are mandatory for all ballet students at North London Dance Centre. Ponytails may only be worn in class for the other styles of dance we offer: jazz, tap, modern, musical theatre & hip hop.
Parent Viewing Week #1
We invite parents to attend their dancer’s class (or classes) during the week of October 18-24. This will be the first of two opportunities this year to observe your dancer from inside the studio.

Dancer’s Waiting Room
The room to the left when you walk into the dance school is our Dancer’s Waiting Room. We ask that any dancers who need to actually change clothing continue to use the washrooms for that purpose as our dancer’s room is for both our male and female students. The dancer’s waiting room is where ALL of our dancers are welcome, and should be waiting before class to stretch/prepare for class. Along these same lines, if there is space available in the lobby area, we ask that parents wait in the lobby area versus in the dancer’s waiting room.
Winterlude Demonstration Shows
For the benefit of our new students, Winterlude is the name of our annual December demonstration show. This year’s Winterlude demonstration shows will be held Saturday, December 12th, at the Wolf Performance Hall, 251 Dundas Street at the Central Library. Dress rehearsals will be held at the Wolf Performance Hall on both Wednesday, December 9 and Friday, December 11th. Detailed schedules will be provided to all students in October, which will indicate each class’s rehearsal slot, as well as which show(s) they will be performing in. Show times on December 12th will be at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm & 4:30 pm. We will be having three shows this year to accommodate all of our students and families. Most classes perform in only one show; however some classes will perform in two or three shows to accommodate our families with multiple children dancing at our school. If your dancer will NOT be participating in our Winterlude show, kindly let us know by email as soon as possible.
Tickets for the show will be available via www.onstagedirect.com/northlondon beginning on November 12. There is no limit on the number of tickets purchased per family, and you are welcome to invite your extended family and friends to share in your dancer’s accomplishments! We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance. Tickets have sold out in previous years.
DVD order forms will be handed out in all classes in November for any families interested in purchasing a professional DVD of the show.

Brothers Ages 9-16?
We are still recruiting boys for our Boys Only Hip Hop & Breakdance class on Sundays from 2-3:00 pm. The class is offered as an 8-week session for $125.79+HST. It’s a wonderful chance for boys to get together, learn some cool dance moves, and have fun in a class their own, with a male teacher.
